Citizens Insurance Agency is built around a simple idea: insurance is easier when you can talk to a real person who knows your community.

With offices in Fredericksburg, Brady, Mason and San Saba, Citizens serves individuals, families, property owners and businesses across the Texas Hill Country and surrounding Central and West Texas communities. Our focus includes auto, home, life, boat and RV insurance, along with business, rural property, farm and ranch coverage through our local offices.

As an independent agency, Citizens can work with multiple insurance companies. That means the conversation starts with your needs rather than forcing every customer into the same carrier or policy.

Our story

From Brady Roots to Four Offices

Our agency’s history in Brady stretches back nearly 100 years. In 2009, President and CEO Timothy Walker purchased the agency alongside his former business partner, Bob Rice. For Bob, it was a return to a familiar business: he had previously owned the agency, sold it and retired years earlier.

Tim became the agency’s sole owner in 2017. The success of the Brady office became the foundation for growth across Central and West Texas, including the Fredericksburg agency (formerly Kent Stehling Insurance Agency) in 2018 and our San Saba office, formerly Gage Insurance Agency.

The name on the door may have changed, but the commitment to each community has not.

    Brady roots

    The Brady agency has served McCulloch County for nearly a century, built on relationships with generations of local customers.

  2. 2009

    A new chapter in Brady

    President and CEO Timothy Walker purchased the agency alongside his former business partner, Bob Rice, who had owned it years earlier.

  3. 2017

    Locally owned and led

    Tim Walker became the sole owner, and the success of the Brady office became the launching pad for growth across Central and West Texas.

  4. 2018

    Fredericksburg joins

    Tim Walker purchased Kent Stehling Insurance Agency, carrying forward its personal service and Germania tradition while adding carriers.

  5. ~50 yrs

    San Saba tradition

    The San Saba office, formerly Gage Insurance Agency, has served the community for nearly 50 years and keeps its Germania relationship.
